It is also the birthplace of the legendary idol, Akari Amasawa. Suzune Miyama is one of the girls who longed to stand on such a dream stage. Having been sickly since she was a child, she listened to Akari's songs many times in her hospital room. Her songs made Suzune happy and gave her courage. In order to become an idol like Akari, Suzune decides to participate in the 7th SELECTION PROJECT during the last summer of junior high school. Only a few stars are chosen from among thousands of candidates. In order to make their dreams come true, the girls' passionate and tough battle has begun. On December 6, 2019, a new original idol project called "PROJECT SELECTION" was announced with the tagline "Fight for your dreams". The official website was launched and the character information of Suzune Miyama and Rena Hananoi was revealed. On December 4, 2020, the name of the project was changed to "SELECTION PROJECT" and a TV anime was announched. The official website was also updated on the same day. On March 9, 2021, the voice actors of the 9 main characters were revealed. On April 19, 2021, a 4-koma manga named Selepro-chan! began serialization on Twitter and the official website.
